EISA 7

Energy Independence and Security Act

Beginning January 2012, the Energy Independence and Security Act, or EISA, began to phase
out less efficient incandescent light bulbs resulting in national energy savings and a reduced
carbon footprint. The bulbs that were included in this legislation are medium base general
service (A-19's) and decorative bulbs (chandelier and globes). Also, some reflector bulbs were
phased out in July 2012. BR30's and BR40's were exempted if they were 65 watts or less. More
importantly, in July 2012, PAR20, PAR30 and PAR38's were required to be much more efficient

and could not be manufactured in 130 volts if they were 40 watts or greater.

The charts on the following pages show the bulbs affected, the date of phase out and suitable

good, better and best replacement bulbs.
